ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
Edgar M. Purvis, Jr., named
executive vice president of Emerson
and business leader of Emerson
Climate Technologies
Thomas E. Bettcher to assume title
of chairman of the business platform

– Thomas E. Bettcher, president and
chief executive officer of Emerson
Climate Technologies, a business of
Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced
a number of key leadership changes
to take place over the next few
months. Edgar M. Purvis, Jr., has
been named executive vice president
of Emerson and business leader of
Emerson Climate Technologies,
headquartered in Sidney, Ohio.
Bettcher, who had been business
leader since 1997, will become
chairman of Emerson Climate
Technologies and focus primarily on
strategic planning and
organizational development.
“For the past 24 years, Ed Purvis
has been extremely instrumental in
positioning Emerson Climate
Technologies as a global leader in
the heating, ventilation, air
conditioning and refrigeration
industry,” said Bettcher. “His
leadership will continue to
strengthen all areas of the company
as the industry adapts in this
ever-changing economic environment.”
Purvis joined Emerson in 1983 as a
product planner with Copeland. He
assumed a number of senior
management positions in air
conditioning marketing, sales and
product planning, and in 1993 was
appointed vice president of
marketing. In 1995, Purvis was
promoted to vice president of sales
and marketing, and in1996 became the
president of refrigeration, a
position he held until 2003 when he
was named group vice president of
refrigeration. He holds a
bachelor’s degree in mechanical
engineering from
the University of
Tennessee, a master’s degree in
mechanical engineering from the
University of Michigan, and a master
of business administration from
Capital University in Columbus,
Ohio.
Bettcher announced that additional
changes to the Emerson Climate
Technologies management structure
include:

William T. Bosway, president of
Emerson Climate Technologies –
Asia since 2003, will become
president of Emerson Climate
Technologies – Refrigeration and
Solutions, and assume
responsibilities previously held
by Purvis for the company’s
Refrigeration, Solutions, Flow
Controls and Latin America
operations. Bosway will return
to the United States from Hong
Kong. He joined Copeland in
1990 and held numerous senior
positions in domestic air
conditioning and refrigeration
before being named senior vice
president of OEM marketing and
international-Americas in 2000.
A year later he became senior
vice president of marketing and
operations. Bosway holds a
bachelor’s degree from Miami
University and a master’s degree
from Krannert School of
Management.

D. Scott Barbour, president of
Emerson Climate Technologies –
Air Conditioning, has been named
president of Emerson Climate
Technologies – Asia and will
move to Hong Kong. Barbour
began his career at Emerson in
1989 and has risen through a
series of increasingly
responsible positions in Emerson
Climate Technologies – Air
Conditioning, including vice
president of marketing,
executive vice president, and
executive vice president and
general manager. Barbour holds a
bachelor’s degree from Southern
Methodist University and a
master of business
administration from Owen
Graduate School of Management.

Brent A. Schroeder, president of
Therm-O-Disc, will become
president of Emerson Climate
Technologies – Air
Conditioning. Schroeder began
his career at Therm-O-Disc in
1988 as a sales engineer, and
was promoted to a number of
account and sales manager
positions before being named
vice president of North America
sales in 1997. From 1999 to
2001 he served as senior vice
president for international
operations and then assumed the
position of senior vice
president of sales and
marketing. In 2003, he was
named president of the Fusite
business, a post he held until
assuming his present position in
2006. Schroeder holds a
bachelor’s degree from Ohio
Northern University.

Mark D. Dunson has been promoted
to vice president and general
manager of air conditioning
sales and marketing for Emerson
Climate Technologies - Asia.
Dunson joined the company in
1996 and has long experience in
Asia, having served there in
senior marketing roles since
2000 and as vice president of
air conditioning marketing since
2003 with additional
responsibility for India since
2006. Dunson received a
bachelor’s degree from the
University of Dayton and a
master of business
administration from Vanderbilt
University.

Richard A. DeNuzzo, chief
financial officer of Emerson
Climate Technologies and a
veteran of more than 30 years
with the company, will assume
additional responsibilities for
coordinating the company’s IT
functions. DeNuzzo was named
chief financial officer in 1997
after serving as vice
president/controller and
planning for the company.
DeNuzzo received a bachelor’s
degree in accounting from
Central Connecticut State
College.
