ST. LOUIS, September 17, 2007 –
Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today
introduced its BX-50 extension of the industry leading E2 platform of
retail facility management systems. Developed by Emerson’s Retail
Solutions division, the BX-50 is a packaged building control system
designed to offer retailers with smaller facilities (less than 25,000 sq
ft) a pre-packaged, easy to install system that reduces energy,
maintenance, and operational costs through more effective control of
HVAC and lighting systems.
The BX-50 automatically maintains a store’s
indoor comfort level and lighting schedule. Both new and retrofit
installations are quick and easy, while remaining low cost, due to the
compact packaging of the controller. Setup and programming time is also
minimized since all systems arrive at the retailer’s site programmed
with pre-defined HVAC setpoints, lighting schedules, and operational
hours. A considerable advancement from programmable thermostats, the
BX-50’s enclosure contains input/output boards and supporting components
for integrated control of up to 6 HVAC units and 8 lighting circuits.
Further differentiating it from conventional
thermostats, the BX-50 is easily connected to an Ethernet network,
allowing service providers and facility managers to securely access a
store remotely from any internet browser. This enables authorized
personnel to easily adjust setpoints, identify system issues, and even
avoid service calls.
“The BX-50 is the latest Emerson innovation
dedicated to helping leading retailers reduce their operational costs
and maintain customer comfort, while addressing organizational concerns
regarding sustainability,” said Bill Coulombe, president of Emerson
Climate Technologies Retail Solutions. “When combined with the
capabilities of the ProAct® Service Center, Emerson delivers retail
operators an unmatched suite of products and services that lower both
energy and maintenance costs.”
Other models of the E2 platform of facility
management systems are specifically designed to control supermarkets,
convenience stores, and large box retail facilities. For more
