2007 AHR Expo Innovation Award Winner for Cooling Category Wins Best-In-Show Honors

ST. LOUIS, January 31, 2007 - Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced today that the CopelandŽ Scroll Digital™ compressor is the recipient of the 2007 AHR Expo Product of the Year award. A panel of judges selected by the ASHRAE Journal chose the CopelandŽ Scroll Digital™ compressor, already the 2007 Innovation Award winner for the cooling category, from the group of nine 2007 Innovation Award winners. This is the first year a best-in-show award has been given.

The AHR Expo Innovation Awards competition is presented by the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute, ASHRAE and the International Exposition Company. This year, 125 products were entered into nine different award competition categories. The CopelandŽ Scroll Digital™ compressor received the Innovation award for the cooling category and then proceeded to earn the ultimate honor, the Product of the Year award.

CopelandŽ Scroll Digital™ technology provides infinitely variable capacity modulation and is ideal for commercial applications with widely varying loads and a need to maintain precise temperature and humidity control. It offers an innovative way to modulate the capacity of the compressor from 10 to 100 percent, so that the output precisely matches the changing cooling demand of the room, and it does this without changing the speed of the motor. This approach to capacity modulation is as much as 30 percent more efficient than traditional hot-gas bypass and is capable of holding a precise temperature to within half a degree Fahrenheit.
