EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES™ INTRODUCES NEW CONTROLLER INTERFACE FOR LENNOX® COMMERCIAL AIR CONDITIONING UNITS
The product, developed through partnership with Lennox, allows for direct communication with E2 Facility Management System.
ST. LOUIS, January 23, 2006 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today introduced its new interface for Lennox® commercial air conditioning units. The product, designed exclusively for use in Lennox units, makes it possible for the units to communicate directly with the E2 Facility Management System.
Developed jointly by Emerson’s Computer Process Controls division and Lennox, the interface allows for the remote reset of the air conditioning unit using the E2. Prior to its introduction, each commercial air conditioning unit was installed with its own proprietary controller with unique error codes, which required that a service technician manually visit each unit. This Lennox interface automatically translates error codes, while quickly enabling end-users to remotely reset set points.
“This product is completely unique to the industry,” said Steve Santy, vice president of operations and product development of Computer Process Controls. “Working closely with Lennox, we’ve been able to develop this customized controller to save the end-user both time and money. This is just another example of how Emerson Climate Technologies is providing solutions that are critical to our customers’ success.”
According to Santy, the controller will save end-users approximately $1,000 in first costs. In addition, the remote reset and automatic error-code translations will result in fewer service calls and faster diagnosis. The controller can also report alarm codes, an ability made even more valuable when combined with Emerson’s ProAct® Monitoring service.
The Lennox interface will be available upon request after February 4, and is ideal for use in retrofits of retail locations like foodservice applications, convenience stores and big-box retailers. The seamless functionality of this interface, coupled with the ease of use of the E2 and ProAct Monitoring, represents Emerson Climate Technologies’ evolving shift to its Intelligent Store™ environment.
Emerson’s Intelligent Store is an integrated suite of products and services that provides retail operators a new level of sophistication and insight into their operations. The Intelligent Store is comprised of innovative products and services from Emerson Climate Technologies that, when combined, can provide variable maintenance, energy and reliability gains. In addition to the E2 Facility Management System, Intelligent Store includes Copeland’s Intelligent Store Discus® compressor; Electronic Stepper Regulator (ESR) valve; Control Link™ standalone controller platform, and ProAct Monitoring services. As an added benefit of linking these components, Emerson has shown that other maintenance, energy and reliability gains are attainable, such as eliminating preventable compressor failures and reducing compressor loads to save energy.
