EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES WINS NOR-LAKE SUPPLIER AWARD

ST. LOUIS, June 1, 2005 - Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced that it has received the 2004 Nor-Lake Supplier Award. Nor-Lake, a manufacturer of walk-in coolers and freezers, gives the award annually to its key suppliers that have achieved excellence in quality, on-time deliveries and customer service throughout the year.

Since Nor-Lake began its Supplier Award in 1989, Emerson Climate Technologies’ Copeland Corporation has received the award 12 times. With the 2004 launch of Emerson’s Integrated Products division, formerly known as the Copeland Condensing Unit Division, this is the first opportunity that Copeland and Emerson Climate Technologies Integrated Products can share in the recognition by Nor-Lake as a recipient of the 2004 Supplier Award.

Nor-Lake became one of Integrated Products’ first value-add customers when the division expanded its offering of value-added services in 2004. Building off of the Copeland compressor reputation for quality and reliability, Integrated Products provides customized condensing units with a variety of refrigeration components and controls, including filter driers and hermetic moisture indicators. In doing so, the Integrated Products division acts as an extension of Nor-Lake’s own engineering department, shifting the burden of control and documentation to Integrated Products, while increasing Nor-Lake’s available time to concentrate on more important engineering projects. The shift of refrigeration effort also benefits the OEM’s operational efficiency by streamlining its case production. The value-add product provides a lower total processing cost that lowers inventory costs while improving quality and reliability.

Nor-Lake has also been able to enjoy the added benefit of a focused service provider that manages Nor-Lake’s suppliers and material flow in order to insulate it from the unexpected material-availability issues that have become common in today’s business environment. By purchasing condensing units from a value-add supplier, Nor-Lake has been able to focus more time and effort on customer initiatives and growing its core business without the added expense of expanding operations and engineering.

Nor-Lake determines Supplier Award recipients through monthly evaluations of each supplier’s performance. Performance ratings are based 70 percent on quality and 30 percent on delivery time. To receive the Supplier Award, suppliers must average a rating of 99 percent or higher for the year. Integrated Products achieved an annualized score of 99.8 percent for 2004.
