EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES WINS 2004 PHILIPS LIGHTING COMPANY INNOVATION AWARD

Clive Samuels and Associates receives industry award for supermarket project

ST. LOUIS, March 21, 2005 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) today announced that Clive Samuels and Associates, one of its divisions, has received the 2004 Philips Lighting Company Innovation Award. Clive Samuels and Associates won the award in the “Environmental Solutions” category, in recognition of its lighting design for Henry’s Marketplace.

The purpose of the Philips Lighting Company Innovation Awards is to acknowledge excellence in retail store lighting and to bring attention to the importance lighting has in creating an enjoyable shopping experience for consumers. It was Clive Samuels and Associates’ work in Henry’s Marketplace, a Costa Mesa, California organic food market that secured its place as this year’s winner in the “Environmental Solutions” category.

For the project, Clive Samuels and Associates designed a lighting environment that focused on both product illumination and energy efficiency. To achieve that goal and still create a pleasant environment for shoppers, Clive Samuels and Associates incorporated Philips’ MasterColor® lamps and Philips ALTO® lamps. The company positioned the lighting at a radical mounting height of 17'-0" A.F.F. with an average spacing of 14'-9" O.C. to create an incredible luminance within the shopping area. The resulting design demonstrated how sustainable lighting is both effective and environmentally responsible.
