EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES™ ANNOUNCES ITS COPELAND SCREW™ COMPRESSORS NOW OPTIMIZED FOR R-134A

ST. LOUIS, March 1, 2005 – Emerson Climate Technologies™, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced that their popular line of Copeland Screw compressors has been optimized for use with the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-134a.

Copeland Screw compressors, which offer universal application flexibility within the 35 to 240hp range, are ideal for use in commercial air conditioning applications, such as libraries, schools, office buildings and hospitals. They are also applied in industrial process chillers used in the manufacturing industry.

The newly optimized Copeland Screw compressors can also significantly increase efficiency while maintaining comparable capacity with standard HCFC units. The reason behind the improved efficiency lies in the compressor’s unique rotor profiles, which have been optimized for use with R-134a without increasing compressor frame size.
