EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES™ INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION OF ENERGY-EFFICIENT COPELAND SCROLL™ COMPRESSORS

Optimized for 13 SEER, it features more than 20 major design improvements that significantly advance compressor technology, energy efficiency and reliability

ORLANDO, February 7, 2005 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today introduced its next generation of Copeland Scroll™ compressors. With 20 major design improvements and nine new patents pending, Copeland Scroll delivers major breakthroughs in efficiency, reliability and sound. The platform recently received the 2005 AHR Expo Innovation Award for technology innovation. It will be on display at the show in the Emerson Climate Technologies booth (#2510).

The next generation of Copeland Scroll builds upon Copeland’s tradition of industry leading compressor technologies. Optimized for 13 SEER, the improved platform increases the efficiency of the compressor by up to seven percent and significantly reduces sound. With additional improvements in reliability and protection, OEMs and contractors can continue to depend on Copeland Scroll to satisfy their customers.

The improved Copeland Scroll platform is a full product line of 1.5-5 horsepower compressors and is available for R-410A and R-22 refrigerants. The new line also provides a broad line-up of displacements and motor voltages, which have been optimized to meet the needs of U.S. customers’ 2006 product lines. New built-in benefits of the next generation of Copeland Scroll include:

• Optimized scrolls, seal designs and motors for greater efficiency

• Enhanced shutdown solution and redesigned shell for quieter operation

• Improved temperature protection and larger shaft bearing system for added reliability

• Standardized parts for improved manufacturing quality and reliability
