Emerson's
Educational Services, Retail Solutions
Team Up to Offer Wal-Mart Contractor Certification
Emerson Climate
Technologies Educational Services and Retail Solutions have teamed to
offer a certification course for contractors servicing Energy Management
Systems in Wal-Mart stores. The first of the 3 1/2 day courses, offered
in the vicinity of Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, AR, took place
in February.
Additional courses are scheduled to be held every other month. The
course material, developed and presented by and Emerson Certified
Instructor from Retail Soutions, covers the basics of E2 Refrigeration
and Building Controls and the specific applications and parameters
employed by Wal-Mart. This high-value class utilizes E2 trainer units
and peripherals for a rich, hands-on experience. The course fee includes
a handheld terminal, essential to interfacing with the E2 systems in
Wal-Mart stores, which the articipants keep.
This course answers a very real need in the
contractor community: Starting
March 1, 2008 Wal-Mart is requiring that all Energy Management
Contractors provide their controls certification number to facilities
monitoring prior to being issued a billable work order number. At the
conclusion of this course, contractors who successfully pass the
examination receive the certification required. The next class,
scheduled for April 22-25 in Rogers, Arkansas, is already full.
Registrations are now being accepted for the June 24-27 class, also in
Rogers. Interested parties should call 800-748-2779 or visit

for details.
